We also expect to reduce rescuer injury through proper training. Our programs, based upon the US DOT First Responder Curriculum, are focused on Trauma rather than First Aid and CPR. All classes include a Lead instructor who is EMT or higher in medical training. For the price of a piece of chrome you can receive this invaluable training in just one to two days. Don't put this training off. Advanced Accident Scene Management Course now Scheduled! All who have passed the Accident Scene Management Course are eligible to take this course. It is a major advance from the initial course. Limit 25. Thank you, Mark Konopka, BMWMCC Safety Director, for setting this up! ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Excellent Monthly Club Dinner meeting for March This night's first presentation was by Liz Neafus-Stenzel of United Cerebral Palsy of Colorado. She talked about our club taking a sponsorship position at the Exotic Sport Cars and Concours D'Elegance June 13, 2010. She described the show and the benefit her organization and our club would get from the contribution. More details will be coming soon on this event.
Our main speaker was Lieutenant Colonel Craig Houk, Comandant of Military Police and Chief of Security Operations, Fort Carson, CO. His presentation described the problem of high motorcycle accident rates at Fort Carson, and the program that is in place to mitigate the problems.
He reviewed the training, inspections of bikes, organized bike rides, a mentoring program with senior NCO's and Officers, and a reflective vest that is given each rider on completion of the required courses. As a result, the tragic statistics are trending down sharply. It is apparent that the Army is not just training soldiers, but experienced riders that will be leaders for new soldiers as well as new and established civilian riders. We owe many thanks to Colonel Houk, his staff and troops for the work they do in accomplishing this mission. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊
Headed out to remote western country this summer?
The second generation of the S.P.O.T. emergency locator is out. Smaller, faster, better, same price. It has proved to be a life saver here in Colorado and around the world. Several members have them already. Learn more at their web site. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Sick and Tired of the same ol', same ol' motorcycles? Though this was first released in 2008, Sampson Motorworks are still in business and have modified several models...FUN!!! ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ A note from your president: Would you like to make an impact on the lives of many, and the heritage of our BMWMCC? Is it time for you to give back and be involved in the organization that enriches the lives of so many? Your club needs your generous help with the club store. One of our club store keepers was called away and another is off on a motorcycling trip through Mongolia this summer. Shu will be gone during the Top O' the Rockies, our club's rally this July. We especially need someone to step in during that period to head up the tee-shirt tent and sales at the rally.
Your fellow club members will certainly appreciate it and I promise that you will personally get more out of it than the effort expended to head up this relatively easy but important project. Thank you in advance for answering this call for assistance. I am confident that several members will reply enabling you to share the enjoyment and sense of fulfillment that comes from becoming a part of this fine organization. You are never alone when chairing an event for BMWMCC, there are many volunteers who will help you along the way. Please send a note to me here, and we can discuss it further.

Dual Sport News is coming soon! New pages, new editor. Its gonna be dirty! ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Registration for the 11th annual 100,000 Foot Ride is now open HERE ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ S1000RR Roll-Out Never in recent history has there been so much buzz about a new BMW Motorcycle. The S1000RR is now available for demo rides at all dealers. Saturday saw a steady stream of prospective buyers testing the new scoot. There are many blogs, articles and U Tube items so no one should be in the dark about what they are riding prior to the demo. In Colorado we have our own Brad Hendry, Parts Manager for Northern Colorado Euro Motorcycles who attended a briefing and test ride in Florida. His notes are available here.
BMWNA is currently shipping 600 motorcycles, and should have a total of 1400 stateside by June, and anticipate shipping 2300 to USA by year's end, according to rumor. This bike has the price, power, handling and technical advances that has interest at a high level in the sport bike venue. Generating sales and interest in the brand from a younger generation is one of the main reasons for BMW's commitment to this model. By the looks of things Saturday, it is hitting a home run. ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Ride Books 2010 Are Here!
Each year one of the best winter happenings is the arrival of the new year's ride book. This year's is a supreme effort by Cathy (our In The Wind Editor), Pat Tabet, and Greg Cocks, our Membership Chairman. These folks worked many hours assembling the rides and ride chairmen, the sponsors and the printer. It is a huge effort each year, but the results for 2010 are stupendous. The book features the details on each of the rides and events for the club for the year. In spiral bound form, the book will last the year well in the tank bag or the coffee table. Pat and Cathy and others rounded up an impressive list of advertisers. Please take a look at the ads and patronize the firms when you are able. This is one of the nice benefits of the club. Spending just a bit of time with this book gets the juices going for a another year of riding! Have you received yours? They've been distributed at monthly meeting, breakfasts and annual party, so far. If you cannot attend an event in the next couple weeks, they will be mailed, but the cost to mail costs the club, so show up! Many thanks to the Ride Book crew. You Rock!! ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊◊
