Welcome to the 2008 Colorado Classic 1000!

Denver to Cripple Creek, the long way around…A thousand miles in a day!

August 16-17, 2008

Registration is now open for the 2008 Colorado Classic 1000, our annual long-distance riding event which asks participants to ride 1000 miles in a day! This event is sanctioned by the Iron Butt Association® as an official SaddleSore 1000 endurance rally and is limited to 125 entrants.

This year’s route departs the Denver area for the historic gold rush town of Cripple Creek, Colorado, the long way around!  It follows scenic, two-lane highways across the Colorado high country, climbing mountain passes totaling almost 100,000 feet in vertical elevation and crossing the Continental Divide at four locations.

The Start opens at 5:00 AM, Saturday, August 16th, at the Holiday Inn in Lakewood, Colorado. The Finish closes 24 hours later, at 5:00 AM, Sunday, August 17th, at the Double Eagle Hotel & Casino in Cripple Creek.  The celebratory finisher’s banquet follows at 11:00 AM. All entrants will receive an official Colorado Classic 1000 polo shirt, admittance to the finisher’s banquet in Cripple Creek and the opportunity to win great door prizes.

Qualified finishers will also receive a commemorative award in recognition of their accomplishment and the opportunity to register with the Iron Butt Association® for SaddleSore 1000 certification (additional fee applies). Entry is by advance registration only. The entry fee is $99 if received by Saturday, July 19th ($125 there after) and is non-refundable.

No entries will be accepted after August 2nd. In accordance with IBA regulations, we will record start and finish odometer readings and require gasoline receipts from two predetermined locations along the route. Detailed route instructions will be provided to all entrants at rider check-in. Participants are free to ride on their own or in groups.

The Colorado Classic 1000 is a long-distance tour, not a race or points competition, and can be successfully completed without exceeding speed limits. Entrants are responsible for hotel accommodations.

A limited number of rooms are being held for Colorado Classic 1000 participants, so register early to ensure hotel availability. Complete event and hotel information will be mailed to you upon receipt of your entry.  Additional banquet tickets will be available for purchase at the time of registration so you can celebrate your accomplishment with family and friends!

Click HERE for a PDF copy of the entry form. Print it out and mail with your check to the address on the form. There is no online registration for this event.

Make plans to join your fellow riders from across the U.S. for this incredible weekend! Rallymaster and additional information:  Eric Levy, (303) 670-6073 or k1200rs@att.net

Update (3/1/08): Although a limited number of rooms have been blocked for Colorado Classic participants at the Double Eagle Hotel & Casino in Cripple Creek, the hotel is quickly filling up and expects to be sold out shortly.  If you’re planning to join us on the 2008 Colorado Classic 1000, you are encouraged to send in your entry now to ensure room availability!
