What are your plans for the MOA Natl in Gillette? 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
This will be my first big Rally. Not exactly sure what to expect. From the pictures I've seen from the previous rallies, it looks like it should be a lot of fun. I plan on taking the whole week off between Gillette and Paonia and spend the time putting lots of miles on my bike. Not sure where I will go, but there is time to figure that out.

I hope we get a good turnout from the club. I'm staying at the Wingate by Wyndham. I would camp at the rally, but I plan on doing a lot of camping during the following week. Are most people camping?

I think I have my route figured out for my trip from Denver to Gillette to Paonia and back to Denver. After the MOA rally, I'm planning on a trip to Yellowstone then down through the Flaming Gorge Utah area then on through Grand Junction to the Durango area then back up to Paonia. While in Gillette I've planned on day trip to Custer State Park and Spearfish Canyon. While in Paonia I have planned a day trip to Crested Butte and Taylor Park reservior. I especially like the twisty paved road to Taylor Park reservior.

I might do the "Cowboy Hat Trick"! I'm planning on leaving Denver on Saturday July 12th and head to Spearfish, SD for the Black Hills Stampede that starts on the Sunday before the Natl. this year. Have a friend that went last year and said its a fun Rally and they do a good job. The Stampede ends on Wed. and Gillette's only 90 miles away.
Going to camp at the Natl. and then have to work the next week but I think I can get Friday off and head to Paonina!
Info below on the Black Hills Stampede:

If you are going to the 08 MOA National plan to leave a few days early and attend the 5th Annual Black Hills BMW Stampede. Home of Mount Rushmore and Crazy horse memorial, the Black Hills is beyond your expectations. Experience a rally destination that offers: five national parks, scenic canyon drives, abundant wildlife, ghost towns, gaming, and the finest riding. Oh Yeah! Not to mention the rally has a full itinerary of activities, meals, prizes & entertainment back at Chris Campground in Spearfish. Located 90 miles East of Gillette WY, the BMW Stampede is your #1 pre-rally event. Bob, that's a very nice ride. I'm leaning towards heading to Cody, spending some time at the museum, then north and west to Missoula via a miandering route...they're all good in western MT.
