Bob Coen Update 5 Months ago
Bob Coen is still hospitalized at Presbyterian-St. Lukes Hospital at 19th and Williams St., Denver. He is finally ready to see visitors!Bob is in better spirits than we've seen him since before he was hospitalized. Even a five minute visit gives him a boost he needs to move forward, to complete his rehab, and to get home.

For those who have not seen earlier reports, the first week in April Bob Coen was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Central, then to St. Joseph's Hospital with an abnormal appendix, pneumonia, and a staph infection of his brain and spinal column which still defies identification. He was not expected to survive.

After nearly eight weeks in the ICU and several major surgeries on his spine to scrape away residue of the infection (which has been in his body for many months), he was moved to the PSL/Specialty Select Hospital (rehab) up the the street from St. Joe's. He is in room 5207 and really needs visitors.

There is free parking in the Parking garage (see image below) which is the easternmost building of the PSL complex at 19th Ave. and Williams Street. (one block west of High, two blocks east of Franklin). Park on any available floor, then use elevators as necessary to get to the 2nd floor walkway from the parking ramp.

Follow these directions carefully or you will spend an extra 20 minutes in the building.

Walk west off the 2nd floor walkway until the corridor turns right, so you turn right to the T intersection. Turn left to where you can only turn right, so turn right and walk past the gift shop to the "B & C" elevators. Take the elevator to the 5th floor. The nurses station will be in front of you. Turn right, then left down the hall about 30 feet where you have to turn left. Bob's room 5207 is on your immediate right.

He cannot eat or drink by mouth yet, so don't bring anything to tempt him. Cards are always welcome if they're funny!

There is a hand wash station immediately outside his door. Please respect his illness and wash before entering. It is advisable to rewash as you leave, too.

Bob or the staff will say if you have to leave, otherwise, play it by ear and don't overstay. If/when he asks you to take him home, don't.

When you take the elevator down, remember to get off the elevator on the 2nd floor or you will spend another few minutes wandering around the hospital's main floor.

Thank yourself for the visit, and know that if you get sick sometime in the future, Bob will probably visit you! He's that kind of guy.

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, {BAM} looks and smells like roast duck, it might be sarcasm.
