OK I'm beginning to think a dark cloud hangs over me, when I'm along you can be assured of bad weather! The "Ladies Ride" was no exception, five of us (Suzanne, Roxanne, Dianne, Jeff, & Ken) met at the Village Inn in Longmont and although we started with sunny skies, dark clouds threatened in the distance. Not too long after leaving the Inn we were greeted with cooling weather and snow, before we crossed into Estes Park we had snow on the road. The views made up for all the inconveniences. A fresh blanket of snow, low hanging clouds, and rustic old buildings reminded me of something out of a Norman Rockwell print. I felt like stopping the bike getting out the backpacking stove and filling a Sierra Club cup with hot coffee, it was awesome. We then proceeded through the Kansas wind (which also seems to follow me) to Masonville where we observed a collegiate bike race and do those folks move, but you’ll be happy to know that an R1200RT was winning! On to “Beemers and More” for hamburgers and refreshments in their enlarged showroom and shop, the burgers were great and the coffee hot! I’d like to thank Roxanne and Steve for a great ride and their hospitality. GREAT JOB LADIES!
