Be advised that the current rumor is that the F800GS will NOT be available for retail purchase in North America before September 2008, and will be an early release 2009 model.

Dat's okay, F800GS (what a vaporware name!), the Versys is available now for about half the vaporware bike will be if it shows up. I'm fairly convinced the only reason it is not here is the value of the dollar would price it sky high in order for BMW to make money on it. Sooo, how to the Japanese manufacturers hold their prices?
It gets curiouser and curiouser...

But at least I'll get to test-ride the vaporware if it ever shows up ("... no Versys available for test rides ..." - Grand Prix, and G-Force, fall 2007). Rumor has it that European demand (coupled with the unfavorable exchange rate) was high enough to justify the risk of losing the 1,000 or so U.S. orders on waiting lists for the F8GS when they announced the delay in January. If Woody's Wheel Works actually comes out with a 19" front wheel option (to accomodate TKC80s)for the Versys before BMW delivers F8GSs to the local showrooms, THAT could sway some of us who want an additional bike for a slightly different (dual) purpose.

Hummm, I bought the Versys on the spot AFTER they offered and I took a test ride. Bob Coen got a test ride, and bought. Others have too. 5k on the meter since late August in spite of the glaciatic period, its a very fun bike. TELL them you'd like a ride! And that I sent you!!
