Hello everyone,
I am a newish member of BMWCC, my wife (best riding buddy) and I have been coming to Colorado on vacation for 35 years, sometimes on a bike (not always a BMW) and sometimes in the car. Though we are new residents we are NOT strangers to the state!! We moved here in August of ‘07 retiring after 37 years, 2 months, and 14 days working for the Kansas City Southern RR Signal Department (that means 24/7 with very little time off for riding).
I have been riding two wheels since the age of nine. Starting with a Cushman motor scooter, (it was an efficient way of delivering newspapers), then Triumphs, Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas and at last BMWs. My first BMW was the 2000 K1200LT we ride today. Being bitten by the BMW bug I purchased an ‘84 R100RS in ‘04 as a “play” bike. I love working on motorcycles as much as riding them, especially the “Airheads”. We look forward to meeting other members and taking lots of trips.
Someone asked how I got the “Radar” moniker. That came from Sonderstrom AFB, Greenland in 1960. I was a Com/Nav (Communications/Navigations) tech and the Com shop had a “Radio” so I became “Radar”. So you see “Radar” on MASH is a “Radar come lately”!
Now, if I could just get out of my neighborhood to go riding!!
