'Nuther Update on Bob Coen - go see him! 2 Months ago
Here is a message from Gray Buckley today:

Bob is in Room 235 at Spalding Rehab Hospital, 900 Potomac, Aurora.

He sits in his chair for hours daily, is on a twice daily PT schedule
with a personal trainer, and tonight took his first meal by mouth in
several months. They have capped his trach and plan to leave it
capped until the contraption is removed tomorrow or Thursday. That
means he can talk. He is taking meds by mouth rather than via the IV.

He looks and is acting great. He can drink from a glass and go to the
bathroom alone.

He needs visitors.

Bob is coming along nicely. He's sharp as a tack and is walking pretty well. Thank God for miracles!

Bob was treated to a birthday party July 3 by some of our members and friends, an event he thoroughly enjoyed.

When he gains a bit more strength, he'll be sent home, and then, just being around his motorcycle will get him even more motivated to ride again!

Seriously, it may be a while before he rides again, but there is no doubt he'll be riding when he can. Way to go, Bob; we're all waiting for the day.

BTW, Bob is reading the forums every day, so if you want to leave him a note here on the site, he'll see it.

Per Gray Buckley:

Bob will arrive home about 1 p.m. July 9.

Thanks for your cards, letters, visits, and phone calls.

His address:

1557 S Osceola Way
Denver CO 80219

Bob sounds great, but still has some recovery to do. As we know, recovery at home is the best and fastest way! He also will not have those pesky PT (pain and torture) gals showing up every hour or so! He would like to hear from you.

It is a great club that can keep a periously ill member in support and company through his ordeal. Thanks to all of you.

Well I'm back home AND back to work this week. Thanks to everyone who came by to see me in the Hosp. and at home. Especially Gray Buckley (who cut my grass for 2 months!)and Suzanne Weston who came by many times and were a great help.
Still can't ride a motorcycle and may not be able to for some time yet. Was beddridden for a long time and the leg muscles need to get back in shape. Walking is getting better but I still have to use a cane.
Maybe see you guys at breakfast soon!

Sorry to hear you are back to work , but certainly glad you are able to do so. I'm sure you will be back to riding in due time.

By all means, do come to breakfast. Some (including me) will be doing the 100K Ride next Saturday, so maybe after that.

If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, {BAM} looks and smells like roast duck, it might be sarcasm.

Yeah Pete I'm back and it feels real good too. Wish I could ride soon but I gotta re-learn to walk first! I gotta new bike with only 500 miles sitting in my garage that needs to be ridden...

I don\'t mind being over the hill; I don\'t even really mind being on the downward slide. I do resent picking up speed!
